We hesitate to encourage people. For a variety of reasons. We worry that we’ll sound cheesy or fake. Or that the moment will be awkward. Or that we’ll be perceived as attempting a bit of flattery in order to manipulate. Perhaps we’re worried that we’ll give somebody “the big head.”

I say take a chance and tell ’em.

If you’re feeling thankful, if you notice something noble, or beautiful, if you’ve experienced a gift because of someone else, they might need to hear it. They probably need to hear it.
