The Good News of the Christian religion is that death is not the end. God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to live a perfect life, to die a death that we deserved, and to be raised on the third day. If we believe in Him, we are joined to him in such a way that his death becomes our death so that his resurrection can be our resurrection. This brings us tremendous hope–no matter what we face–no matter what type of suffering–no matter what type of death we will experience–it’s not the end. We will be raised and live forever.

Every spring we get to see things that look dead come to life. The natural world “preaches” to us the resurrection story of Our Lord.

Spring is so powerful that Brother Lawrence (a seventeenth century monk) attributed his conversion to Christianity to his contemplations of Spring:

“The first time I saw Brother Lawrence, was upon the 3rd of August, 1666. He told me that God had done him a singular favor, in his conversion at the age of eighteen. That in the winter, seeing a tree stripped of its leaves, and considering that within a little time the leaves would be renewed and after that the flowers and fruit appear, he received a high view of the Providence and Power of GOD, which has never since been effaced from his soul.”
