Today we stop to give thanks.
To Whom are we giving thanks? Hopefully to the Giver of all good things. The Author of Life. The Creator and Sustainer of all. Hopefully to our friends and family.
Thanksgiving is one of the most powerful forces for good imaginable. It obliterates grumbling, hostility, contempt, anger…you name it.
It reorients our selfishness. It recalibrates our priorities.
It turns us Godward. It turns us toward our neighbors and even our enemies.
It helps us remember those we’ve lost–weirdly exacerbating and soothing our aching hearts simultaneously.
It causes us to search for silver linings in turbulent times.
Today, I’m thankful for you.
