It took Diedra and me longer than we care to admit to notice that we were getting in petty arguments right before dinner.

Eat some supper–and suddenly we’re in love again, and often can’t remember what in the world we were fighting about.

We are spiritual and physical. Sometimes we need naps. Sometimes we need snacks. We need to take care of our bodies so that we can do the spiritual/physical work of relating well to one another.

Fasting has its place. So do sleepless prayer vigils. These are important disciplines.

So is supper.

Now Diedra and I have a deal–no potentially volatile negotiations until after we eat.

If we can even remember what they were.
