My grandfather used to work for Hamilton Clock Company. He received a wall clock for his 15 year service award.
I inherited the clock–it’s on the wall in our living room.
I wasn’t sure I’d ever be able to stand the tick-tock sound of the pendulum. At first, there’s something a bit troubling about the sound–like your life is racing away or something.
I like it now. It’s strangely comforting. Even though it still reminds me of my mortality, it also reminds me of my grandfather’s faithfulness–a legacy I pray to carry into as many future generations the Lord lets me see.
It also reminds me that moments are precious–and (hopefully) helps me to be more mindfully present in the now.
Good day, my friends–may you make your moments count today. Hug the ones you love. Tell them they are precious gifts.
But I trust in you, Lord;
I say, “You are my God.” My times are in your hands….
